Students pay tuition fees by working in the sex trade says the NUS

Yesterday, the National Union of Students (NUS) spoke about the record numbers of undergraduates turning to the adult industry to fund their education.

The English Collective of Prostitutes run a helpline, which they say has received a huge surge in calls since the government announced the increase of tuition fees to anything up to £9000. Its a serious situation when young girls feel forced into prostitution simply because they want an education and don’t want to be in debt for the next 20 years because of it. This is a nasty side effect of several serious issues that this government have created and need to address urgently.

Anyone who feels like they have no option other than prostitution needs help and support. There should ALWAYS be a choice, but to that end, while we offer support and guidance to provide alternative help to students who struggle to pay for their education, we also need to accept and support those who choose to work in the sex industry through their own free will.

There are a lot of students who work as dancers, strippers and phone sex operators who love what they do and enjoy the extra money and perks that comes with the territory. Think about it this way, if you have been earning £1000+ a week and having a great deal of fun doing it, you’re hardly going to swap that for a minimum wage bar job.

This latest set of headlines has implied that all students who have sex jobs are miserable and feel forced into it. Yes, this is a worrying situation, but dancing, working on phone sex lines and even escorting (for a reputable agency) shouldn’t be labeled as a shameful way to make money if thats a lifestyle the individual concerned is truly comfortable with.

From our end, we have a lot of students working on our phone sex lines that truly love every minute of it – but if you are on this site, reading this blog then you’ll probably already know that!
